Dungeons 2 Best Builds by Game Stage
Best builds for Minecraft Dungeons II by stage: early game, campaign and endgame, from community creators, with the gear each build needs.
What is the best build in Minecraft Dungeons II?
For the endgame, two community builds have beaten every boss on Hard: an Awesomeaxe crit build that keeps Warding Chimes up, and a Clobberer build that spreads its damage buffs across different families. Early on, Sculker Claws with the Hivemind Hardhat is the fastest start. The game has no classes, so your gear is your build.
Every build below comes from a named creator. We have not tested them ourselves, and patches can change how well they work. Compare the weapons in our Dungeons 2 tier list and rearrange them in the tier list maker.
Which build is best for the early game?
Start with the Sculker Claws rush. Beat the Witch, then begin the quest “The Witch Revived” from her respawn stone. The rematch drops the unique Sculker Claws, a weapon you would normally find in the last act. Wear the Hivemind Hardhat from the first area’s quest.
- Loadout: Sculker Claws, Hivemind Hardhat, Firework Arrow.
- How to play: lead with jump attacks, because mobs miss you while you are in the air.
- Weak point: the rematch Witch hits much harder than the first fight.

Which builds work during the campaign?
Two builds stand out once the Blacksmith lets you reroll gear. The lightning katana is a simple crit build, and the unlimited arrow archer is the strongest ranged option.
Lightning katana crit. A katana with Lightning Surge fires lightning on every third hit and on every jump attack. Use three damage artifacts in order: Grindstone first, then Fighter’s Flute for guaranteed crits, then Warrior Drums last. It burns souls fast, so empty souls means no burst. Credit: Dear Gamer.
Unlimited arrow archer. One melee hit with the Awesomeaxe gives the Strength status, which turns a 136 damage arrow into 544. Critical Quiver and crit chance sandals refund arrows on crits, so ammo never runs out. Pair it with the Harp Crossbow and shoot at point-blank range. There is no defence besides rolling, so swap in Sigil of Beeswax for hard content. Credit: rifeye.
Which builds work in the endgame?
Four endgame builds are on record from creators who beat every boss on Hard or measured the damage.
- Awesomeaxe crit with Warding Chimes. Strength doubles every hit, Flute and Drums stack on top, and the Hivemind Hardhat stretches Warding Chimes until they are almost always up. If you run out of souls you have no defence left. Credit: Mattitude.
- Redstone Wrecker potion engine. The most forgiving build. Each potion returns 120 souls through Bottomless Brew and two Ancient Alchemy, and those souls pay for Flute, Drums and the Turtle Master’s Mandolin, which gives half damage taken. Credit: The Dungeon Fish.
- Clobberer crit stack. Built from damage tests, it spreads buffs across families instead of doubling one. The creator measured about 15,600 damage per second on stream. Credit: The Dungeon Fish.
- Prime jump. Prime Enchanter’s Gauntlets land a fire hit and a lightning hit on every jump, so the damage counts twice. The creator reports 16,000 to 25,000 per jump on Hard. It has little area damage. Credit: The Dungeon Fish.
How do damage buffs stack?
Buffs from different families multiply, while bonuses from the same family add together. So you should spread your modifiers across families instead of piling up one. Measured multipliers from the creator’s training dummy tests on 1 October 2026: Strength status times 2, a critical hit times 1.5, Warrior Drums times 2.33, and crit plus Strength together times 3.
Weapon waves such as the Redstone Wrecker’s take Strength but not crits.
